Christmas is Over

This is a picture of Maddy (my mother-in-law) standing in the snow that covers her front lawn. We arrived in NJ just as the snow was starting to pile up Sunday afternoon then later we braved the blizzard to spend a delightful evening with Glenn Laurie (Gary's brother his wife). I say evening but we left by 6pm because the snow was getting dangerously heavy and we wanted to get back to Maddy's house without getting stuck out in the cold. It was nice just sitting around enjoying each others company, that is the best part of the holidays being together with family. It was difficult to enjoy the family time together when Georgia or should I say SATAN is here because she is still very much a puppy who loves her home space. When she comes to visit she has been transported to a strange place with extra people around. We do our best to make her feel at home but she paces and paces trying to find her place in the house, it really is sad because she doesn't mean to bark but she just doesn't understand her new enviroment When she finally arrives home again as you can see she beomes content very quickly!

The holiday season

The Christmas season is here again. Gary and I bought a tree, decorated it along with the inside and outside of our entire house. This was all done while recovering from leg surgery and Gary struggling to get a painful abscess tooth worked on. For us, being able to pull this off might qualify as a Christmas miracle. But the hard work continues with food being ordered for the Christmas feast, with everything happening the comings and goings of children and dogs will be served on Christmas Eve. We start our evening with snappers no not fish but the old English tradition of a roll covered with paper that makes a loud snap sound when opened. Inside the snapper you will find a brightly colored paper crown and a fun present which is followed by a tuck-in where antipasto, roast beef, potatoes and much more will be put out for all to enjoy! Christmas carols will be playing quietly on the stereo the room will be bathed in soft candle light, glasses filled with our chosen brew, and cookie trays overflowing with each ones favorite indulgence. We will have just the right atmosphere as the Christmas tree sparkles and gives off the ultimate smell of pine trees in snow covered forest for all of us to enjoy another holiday season.
