Sunday at the party

I went to a Party at Mary Ann's & Pauls for Dad 88th Birthday. It's been another year. I gave Dad a plaque that says “Vinney’s Place”, it is going on his front door. Brian has come down with a cold… I want him to stay away from me… he gave me his last cold and I was sick for over a month. Enjoy the Birthday Video

Female Circumcision... why

Talked with Vinnie (easier than grandad or dad) today about possibly changing doctors, Vinnie swears that there are no doctors that don't use "hospitalist" in the entire Williamsport area so Gary is going to check at the hospital. So there maybe hope that we can get him to switch.
We had a lovely dinner with eggplant, and baked ziti.
We just watched a Law and Order about female circumcision, It makes me so angry... I can't even tolerate listening to the description I have to fast forward. Men I just don't understand?

Happy Labor Day

The week-end is here

The tiler was here and finished my kitchen tile, Gary laughs that I will never be done redecorating ... well that is probably true. If I had lots of money and the energy I could go on a whirlwind shopping spree but still find something I forgot to buy. I found that my camera has even more features so I hope to take some interesting pictures and I will post them as soon as I get them. Go..... Penn State, they play tomorrow. A school that has only had a football team for 3 years... how the mighty have fallen.
Vinnie was here for dinner, he looked good, although his legs are swollen. I listened to his lungs and heart sounds, everything seemed alright but he said he wanted to decrease the lasix (unless he already did and that is why his legs are swollen- he is a tricky old man). I am so naive- I trust he is going to follow the doctors instructions. I will have to put pressure on him this weekend to spill the beans about the lasix.
A great site, check it out: http://travel.nytimes.com/2008/08/31/travel/31hours.html?ei=5070&emc=eta1

Hurrah the tiler is here

The tiler is here, he came and was very negative about the pattern I had picked. I was very upset, because I had taken a long time to pick out what I wanted... I went upstairs and called Gary... he couldn't do much from work accept call over and talk with Ruth or just quit the job and find someone else to do it. I got off the phone and remembered someone telling me that you have to just demand what you want. What can it hurt to ask, so I went back down and started with, “this is the pattern and somehow I want to get it to work” the man working on the tile was nice and so it took off from there. Tomorrow the grout!

An other day

JENNI WON AGAIN, they beat the dewey decimatora! Jenni is pondering the question that I posed to her on Monday's blog and Harley Feast is driving her crazy. Sorry I missed Tuesday, pain level ORANGE ... goes from yellow to orange. Hilary was great last night, hoorah for her... go OBAMA!

A question for Jenni?

What single act is a crime, a Brief & a Tort? Does Jenni know the question? Everyone will have to wait until Jenni gets back to me or if anyone knows the answer please let us know.
Pain is bad today so that's it for now.

I see the fall coming

I was out for a short walk and I could see the leaves just starting to turn. We need some cold nights to get the colors to pop... I am ready for the cool days to return. As everyone that know me, knows I hate heat... it holds me captive in the house all summer long. This is the last day of Little League, our household should get back to normal until football and basketball starts. There is just so much to do around the house and Gary's comes home from work so tired that I hate to ask him to do house projects during the week.
I have added a slide show of my favorite pictures. Hope everyone reading this enjoys them.

Uncle Joe was a very nice man

So sorry for the last post... I just forgot so I found an article about the family business... a long time ago.
Uncle Joe was the oldest in the family, he ran the 4th Ward Grill in the Campbell Street area. I have never taken a picture of the area, but I will look for a picture in historical achives. The problem happened September-1945 so what caused the police action.... will have to ask Dad!

Jenni told me that she lost at “trivia night” to the “dewey decimators”, she also told me that her CRP is still elevated. Brian also told us that his professor is not teaching “painting” this year so he has to rearrange his fall plans. Then Gary told us that he is going to be on TV today, he was interviewed during the Little League games about being an Usher. Everyone seems to be going to the LL games…Sara Bell’s children and grandkids are in town. They all enjoy going to the games plus Reese, Pam & Katherine. The entire town revolves around LL! Everyone but me.

I was watching a show on therapy used to help Autistic child learn to speak. I am reminded of when Jenni was very young and would not speak. I could see the words were on the tip of her tongue but the word just did not come. It was so frustrating wanting to understand her needs…do you want water or do you want to play. We would go over a litany of things we thought she wanted but we never knew spot on if we were right. They one day she just started to talk and as we all know she hasn’t stopped. But with the Autistic child on the program, some are 12 years old and can’t communicate how frustrating that must be for those children. They were using dolphins along with speech therapy to motivate the children to talk.
I don’t watch Soap Operas, I try to watch shows that teach me something, mysteries that stretch my mind and shows that make me think.

The slide show I posted is what Gary watches during Little League... enough about him back to me.
Everyone will be glad to hear that we bought the tile, now we wait until the tiler is ready, I will post pictures when it is done.
Now, here is a survey that I enjoyed answering, if anyone reading would like to share their answers I would love to hear your responses to the questions.

If you read my first post you know my morning routine so, let’s jump past that and get to some other things I do during my day.
I want to first explain the picture I included yesterday; I thought having a “photo of the day” would be fun. I hope to add a daily photo from the present and maybe some from my past… yesterday’s picture post was taken the evening before my first post. From my chair I had a perfect view of the full moon, the beauty of the moon, I got my camera and tripod when out to take the picture… you would think that would be an easy task but no, not in this house. I needed to change lenses so I turned on the wall hanging lamp by my chair (almost everything I do revolves around my chair) but the “fricking” lamp would only flicker on for 3 seconds at a time. This is the second lamp I put next to my chair they both end up just flickering on and off … the electrical wiring in the house is maddening. We have a switch in each room that is not connected to anything, granted the house was build in 1929 so it is old but come on all I wanted was to sit in my chair and work with my camera gear! It is a simple thing but it really bugs me!
I resolved the light problem for now; I brought a floor lamp in from another room. I need to hire an electrician to come in and fix the wiring problem in the house. I have a light over the sink that flickers off and on … I know it sounds silly but with the pain I have sometimes just the littlest thing drives me crazy. Why do I have to live in a house with so many things unfinished…. Then I remember a friend who lives in a house that she rents…. she has mice biting her children. She lives in low income housing and has no choice so how can I complain.
Ruth called to say that they could come and put the tile in the kitchen, I was sleeping and Gary was at the LL games today. So I started trying to reach him with the antiquated cell phone at 3pm it is now 4:30, Ruth will leave for the day soon. I have waited over 25 years to get the outdated tile replaced in my kitchen and I just want Gary to pick up the darn phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every year there is something…. Gary just called back; he didn’t hear the 11 missed messages. He is calling Ruth now…. I had to scream on the phone for him to hear me. It is now in Gary’s court… I know that Gary would never ignore my calls, he just can’t hear them. So we will see when I get my tiles! Its 5pm now I can shower.

I need a place to journal

Today is like every other day. I wake up around 11 am come down, make my morning shake go to my Lazy Boy chair and turn on the TV. I am lucky to have a beautiful view into the outside world. People walking, running past my front door and children riding skateboards trying to capture the last few days of freedom before the school year begins.
Gary is volunteering at Little League… it is long days but he LOVES the entire experience. He calls home several times during the day to see if any emergency have occurred, we can’t call him because we don’t have a conventional cell phone. Gary uses a “Virgin” cell phone that was first used in the early 2000’s… he hates technology, when we do call him he doesn’t answer the phone.
