Brian Birthday 2011
Today is March 17th St. Patrick's Day and is celebrated around the world at least for drinking but it's also the day that Brian was born. That day 32 years ago was a beautiful sunny one at about 6:30 in the morning I woke up was in the hospital by 8:30am and Brian was born at about 20 minutes after one. I could hear a woman screaming down the hall, I was doing fine until right before Brian was delivered the pain got very intense. At that point I grabbed Gary taking his T shirt pulling his chest and saying “what am I to do now I can't take it anymore”-shortly after that I was taken into the birthing room. I didn't know there were people out waiting in the hall my cousin named Birdie pushed her way into the front with my Mom (unmarried and wanted her own child desperately) she worked in the hospital so she was one of the first relatives to see Brian. My Mother waited IMMEDIATELY outside the delivery room doors along with my cousin so when I was moved from the birthing room to my post-partum room she opened the door and was able to see Brian before anyone.
I also had a friend that was a Sister of Christian Charity, we worked together in ICU she had dreamt my baby would be first a boy (this was before you could know the sex of the baby) and born with red hair, freckles just like Tom Sawyer. Brian was born with red hair and freckles. My Mother also had a dream that Brian would be born then jump out of his crib doing somersaults down the hall. Although he did not jump out of the bed he was always a very active child he walked before he was ready to walk and found himself with many cut lips. Gary's Mom and Dad came in from the East my Father was in the west of Pennsylvania he hurried home everyone was very happy. Brian is the first grandchild on my side of the family.
It would be the first of two of the most exciting days of my life the first day was when Brian was born and second would be the day Jenni was born.
My mother had a story first you have to know that Mom was 100% Irish her grandmother came over at the age of 16 from Ireland on the boat. Mom thought she was making up stories to embellish her Irishness stating that she was born on St. Patrick's Day. My mother never believed that story “it must be some Irish blarney how could anyone really be born on St. Patrick's Day” she had to eat her words and my Great-Great Grandmother is probably laughing somewhere because there is a child born every day even on St. Patrick’s day!
I want to wish Brian a very happy birthday today!
